Over the last few years, the Foundation has provided nearly $50,000.00 to students to participate in the many academic and extracurricular programs at Golden High School as well as performance based scholarships to help students get started in college.
Through faculty members, Golden High students can submit written requests to the Foundation for financial support for academic programs such as AP Test fees and extracurricular activities such as participation at a national drumline contest to be held in Ohio. The Foundation receives numerous funding requests each month and requires that the requesting student have a teacher recommendation accompany their request.

Our merit based Alumni Foundation Scholarship Award Winners are exceptional Golden High graduates who choose to continue their education at a Colorado based college or trade school. Our winners submit extensive applications to the Foundation for the review of the Board. Scholarships are awarded based upon academic record, application essay and faculty recommendations. Each year, the foundation expects to provide at least three worthy students scholarships of $2,000.00 for their first year of advanced education. Below is information about the endowed Honorary and Memorial College Scholarships we offer Golden High School (GHS) Students through the GHS Alumni Foundation. Donations to any Honorary or Memorial Scholarship fund are accepted with gracious thanks and are reserved for the specific Scholarship as designated by the generous Donor. If one is interested in establishing a Golden related Scholarship, please contact us.
Susan S. Branch Family Scholarship: Mrs. Sue Branch was a Colorado native and long-time Golden resident. She served as a substitute teacher for many years at GHS and the surrounding middle schools. Her family created this annual scholarship in Sue's memory to be awarded to a GHS student with plans to attend an in-state public college and to study to become a teacher.
Angela Elliott Scholarship: Ms. Angela Elliott is a 1993 GHS graduate whose life is a testament to the power of passion, connection, and community. A proud Demon through and through, Angela lit up the volleyball court with both talent and heart. However, her impact has stretched far beyond the game. Whether it was organizing events, lending a listening ear, or bringing together classmates and neighbors, Angela has a rare gift of connecting people and making everyone feel like they belong. In Angela’s honor, the Elliott Scholarship will be awarded annually to a first-generation college senior who will be attending any post-secondary education program (vocation/trade/college) and participates in the GHS volleyball program. The ideal candidate will exemplify Angela's spirit and be someone who shows dedication and leadership in volleyball, while also demonstrating a commitment to bringing teammates together and actively building a stronger, more inclusive community.
Grenfell Family Memorial Scholarship: Established in loving memory of the Grenfell family, this scholarship honors generations of Golden High School graduates whose dedication to education and community has spanned decades. Founded through the legacy of Mr. Matthew Grenfell and inspired by the family’s long-standing support of the GHS Alumni Foundation, the scholarship reflects the values of generosity, perseverance, and pride shared across generations—from Mr. Richard Grenfell (Class of 1936) to his children and grandchildren. The Grenfell Scholarship supports GHS graduates who wish to pursue trade school or community college education in Colorado, continuing the family’s tradition of helping others build meaningful futures.
Lowell Sharp Scholarship: Mr. Lowell Sharp was a long-time faculty member at Golden High School who passionately coached the Golden Debate team for decades. He was a remarkable man and an outstanding teacher dedicated to GHS. After his passing, his family created a scholarship to be awarded each year to a student who was active in Speech and Debate while at Golden High School and who is planning to major in Forensics, Communications or Education.
